Core Principles of Troubled Kids Ranch:

Teach children LOVE, RESPECT & RESPONSIBILITY.

That is the primary objective that Del has for the Ranch. To accomplish this, she plans to use the animals of the Ranch to help children learn appropriate behavior and how to connect with the animals.

As a teacher, Del was faced with the usual behavior issues that come with that territory. Raising 3 children on her own and now having 12 grandchildren, she learned a lot about how to guide and train children in appropriate behavior. As a 4-H leader, part of her task was to teach her kids what was expected of them. She learned how well children respond to caring for animals, learning to trust and to enjoy being trusted by something as large and imposing as a full grown horse. Del plans to use this experience to help troubled kids to learn how to give and receive love and respect, and how to accept responsibilities.

A high standard of behavior will be required for the kids who choose to participate in activities at Troubled Kids Ranch. They will be taught what is expected of them and will be encouraged to meet those standards. The goal is to help the children with love, compassion and respect.
